This year we publicised the awards to all conservatoria in NSW, Queensland, Victoria and ACT, inviting applications for assistance from our foundation. Applications closed on October 6 and our auditions took place on November 12. We had five finalists each to play a thirty-minute program for an independent artistic assessment panel of Professor Michael Brimer, Professor John Luxton and Ian Munro.
We are pleased to announce our award winners as follows:
Calvin Abdiel is sixteen and is currently studying with Natalia Ricci at the Sydney Conservatorium High School, within the Conservatorium’s Rising Stars program. He is planning a career as a concert pianist, chamber musician and composer. He plans on applying his award to further his studies in Australia and the United States, to assist with associated costs for his imminent auditions for the Juilliard School and Curtis Institute in the United States.

Rachael Shipard is twenty one, currently studying her Masters of Music Research with Natasha Vlassenko at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. She is planning a career as a concert pianist performing solo, in chamber music and accompaniment, teaching and artistic research. She plans on applying the award to further her studies in Australia and Europe, and to assist in covering travel costs, competitions, and audition expenses for Australian, New Zealand and international competition entry fees.

Oscar Wong is nineteen, and has been studying with Natasha Vlassenko at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. He aspires to become an internationally renowned concert pianist and chamber musician and perform in different countries around the world. He plans on applying the award to further his studies in Europe or America, and to assist in covering costs for international competition entry fees.
