Ara Vartoukian Awarded an OAM

Ara Vartoukian, co-founder of the Theme & Variations Foundation, has been awarded a medal in the General Division of the Order of Australia as part of the Queen’s Birthday 2016 Honours List. The OAM citation states that Ara has been formally recognised for his service to music as a piano technician, and his support of the arts. Ara has become an international authority on piano technology, bringing his Australian expertise to China, Germany, New Zealand and Russia.

In addition to assisting young Australian pianists by founding the Theme and Variations Foundation with his wife Nyree, Ara has been extraordinarily generous with his support of the Australian musical community in general. He regularly donates his time, effort and finances to help various organisations, competitions, and emerging artists.

The board and supporters of the Theme & Variations Foundation take great pleasure in congratulating Ara on this well deserved award.
